Back in January my sister asked me to make an owl for some friends of hers expecting a baby later in the year. They love owls, they like purple and silver, so this little fellow emerged!
I used Stylecraft Special DK in Wisteria, Silver and a smidgeon of Saffron. A couple of small pieces of felt and some 9mm safety eyes for the eyes 🙂
I decided not to do the feet and tail as it was going to be for a newborn, who would eventually grow into a baby who gums everything then a toddler who chews everything and I didn’t want to have too much on there that they could chew at and risk pulling off!

… and I’m organising my photos of the past week. Here are a few of my favourites:
I’ll get back on over Thursday or Friday to post about what I’ve been up to and try to get some more pictures of my new toys up! The unicorn especially given that it’s probably one of my favourites out of all of the toys I’ve made!
Here is one of the Christmas gifts for my charges. Little 2yo asked for a grey horse, so here it is!
It’s my first crochet toy and first amigurumi-style item as well. It is not a free pattern but it is worth buying if you know a little person who likes horses, it’s a very cute pattern!

My November challenge failed miserably, I’m not too upset by that though. I have got a lot done that wasn’t Nick’s blanket or writing!
I have had a few projects on the go for Christmas and they’re slowly but surely getting there (motto of my life it seems!) So here are two of the animals I’m currently working on, can you guess what they are? 😉
I have things that I need to get done today but between a new baby rat sleeping on me and my lone rat sleeping on me, I can’t get them done. So I’m on here instead! But, here is a photo of the baby rat, her name is Sikozu and she’ll be joining our girls ASAP.
I said last night that I’d post about my plans for next month, they are as follows:
- Finish the Catan Blanket Hexes
- Attempt NaNoWriMo
That’s basically it. I have a fanfiction idea that I’ve been playing with for a long while that really needs writing down, I haven’t written anything since I was a teen so this should be interesting! I also want to get Nick’s blanket done in time for Christmas instead of slacking, so my goals this month consist of two very big, creativity-based projects.
I couldn’t help myself. This was earlier in the summer but hey! British summers require scarves occasionally…
So, my mother is a paddler and has an event coming up, kayaking down the Liffey Descent in Ireland, and she asked me to make her an octopus hat (she originally posted a picture to my FB wall of Chuthlu thinking it was an octopus…).
I happened to have some more fluorescent yellow and an orange that wasn’t far off being fluorescent, and this was the result. It’s the most hideous thing that I have ever made, but it amuses me so I am not too ashamed to post it!
