FO Friday: 10/11/17

I have finished two things recently! I’m quite excited about it really. The first is a long term project and the second was a quick crochet for a birthday gift.

I finally finished the Carousel CAL that I’ve been working on for nearly a year. I started it within weeks of Temi being born, and finished it a couple of weeks ago.

Blurry toddler for scale!

I didn’t intend to post a photo until I’d washed and blocked it, but Temi adores it and cuddles it as she feeds, so it hasn’t got there yet!

It’s all stylecraft special and the colours dictated by the pattern. It was a stashbusting project but actually used less than I’d hoped despite 16 colours!

The second thing that I have finished is a little Flamingo which, as I said, was a quick birthday gift for a little girl in my antenatal group who got given a book by me as well, Flora and the Flamingo, which is a beautifully illustrated story with no words. The pattern has a few errors but it’s sweet and simple to work out if you are familiar with crochet/amigurumi, I’d think an advanced beginner would be fine! The English translation is a PDF so I won’t link to it from here but it can be found on the rav pattern page. All stylecraft special dk again. I have a lot to burn through still.

So that’s it for this week. I’m hoping to post another FO next Friday as I’m making a dress which I’m hoping will be finished by Temi’s 1st birthday on Monday, but we’ll see 😉

It’s been a while since I’ve managed a Finished Object but here is one I’m happy with, this is Chutney and he’ll be heading to my nephew when I next see him. Artemis was really excited when she saw him so I think I’m going to have to make one for her too now!

FO Friday: Jip the Owl

IMG_6790 (30%)

Back in January my sister asked me to make an owl for some friends of hers expecting a baby later in the year. They love owls, they like purple and silver, so this little fellow emerged!

I used Stylecraft Special DK in Wisteria, Silver and a smidgeon of Saffron. A couple of small pieces of felt and some 9mm safety eyes for the eyes 🙂

I decided not to do the feet and tail as it was going to be for a newborn, who would eventually grow into a baby who gums everything then a toddler who chews everything and I didn’t want to have too much on there that they could chew at and risk pulling off!

November plans

I have things that I need to get done today but between a new baby rat sleeping on me and my lone rat sleeping on me, I can’t get them done. So I’m on here instead! But, here is a photo of the baby rat, her name is Sikozu and she’ll be joining our girls ASAP.

I said last night that I’d post about my plans for next month, they are as follows:

  1. Finish the Catan Blanket Hexes
  2. Attempt NaNoWriMo

That’s basically it. I have a fanfiction idea that I’ve been playing with for a long while that really needs writing down, I haven’t written anything since I was a teen so this should be interesting! I also want to get Nick’s blanket done in time for Christmas instead of slacking, so my goals this month consist of two very big, creativity-based projects.
